About

Meadowlark Ridge
Many years ago this area was known as Oak Hill and had its own post office and one-room schoolhouse. Oak Hill Cemetery, within walking distance, has gravestones dating back to 1793 and was once the location of many Methodist camp meetings in the 1800s.

"My vision for Meadowlark Ridge is to offer fine service, luxurious amenities, and a memorable stay for every guest. It is the perfect place to relax and reconnect with friends and nature or to get out and explore the history and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley." ~ Don Horn, Owner
Meet the Innkeepers

Cindy and Lloyd met while both working at a fine dining restaurant in South Texas. Cindy was a server, and Lloyd was a trainer. Their relationship grew – The story momentarily splits here as Cindy said that Lloyd followed her around like a puppy, Lloyd seems to remember winning Cindy over with his suave demeanor! Regardless, they somehow managed to get married, have two daughters, and gain a collective 36 years of hospitality experience.

Lloyd, a native of North Carolina, came to the Gulf Coast of Texas with the Coast Guard. After being discharged, he worked his way up to manager of an upscale steak and seafood restaurant. Over the next two decades, he went on to own a sandwich shop, full-service restaurant, and catering business. A slowing economy, growing family, and an attractive offer from a friend who worked in the oil and gas industry lured Lloyd away from hospitality and he became a geotech.

Cindy grew up in South Texas. She started her hospitality career in the same fine dining restaurant where she met Lloyd, spending some time as an assistant manager at another full-service restaurant. After having their first daughter, she finished her degree and became an elementary teacher, teaching kindergarten through fourth grade for nearly two decades.

Throughout the years, they continued to host frequent dinners for family and friends and dreamed of a time when they could work together again. Cindy had a vision of becoming Innkeepers. They honed a collection of recipes and studied up on bed and breakfast management. Admittedly a frequent lurker of bed and breakfast sites, she found Meadowlark Ridge and was delighted to connect with owner Don Horn.

Cindy and Lloyd are so excited to meet you and host your next stay at Meadowlark Ridge in 2025. They have firmly fallen for this beautiful Augusta County area and are committed to providing a peaceful place to relax and connect with all the Shenandoah Valley has to offer.
Reconnect With Nature
Meadowlark Ridge offers an opportunity to reconnect with nature for a relaxing getaway. Experience the calming effect of biophilia - a concept popularized by E. O. Wilson that recognizes our innate love of nature and living systems.

Carefully selected natural materials surround you – from the log interior to the wood and leather furnishings. The views from each room and sounds from outdoors help reinforce this strong connection to nature, helping to relax your mind and reduce stress. The bird themes and artwork by local artists enhance this experience throughout.
